It took me a while before I was brave enough to attempt gardening, and in the spring of 2021, I decided to plant some ditch lilies. With no signs of Poison Ivy in sight I thought I was safe. I wore long sleeves, and gloves, but didn't consider wiping the sweat from my neck and the roots that I was digging up were from the vicious plant. This picture is just from the beginning, and while I didn't get the blisters as bad as I did a couple of years prior, it scarred me mentally. I was determined that our yard was out to get me and the only way to stay safe was to stay inside :(
But what kind of life is that? In July 2021 I was introduced to Farmasi and started researching their many products. I was also researching poison ivy and how to combat the effects from it's elusive oil. It was then that I started experimenting with different products every time I found a spot that I had gotten into. Finally I can say that I am no longer scared to be in our yard, as I have found something that actually works!
I go in and take a shower with our tea tree soap, then apply a charcoal toner, and charcoal face mask onto the affected area. For the last two years it has worked like a charm! I shared with my doctor, and she exclaimed, "That is brilliant!" The charcoal purifies the skin, drawing out the oil.If needed I will also use the Jojoba oil mixed with the Tea Tree essential oil, but honestly, I don't usually need it. I'm so excited with this new found freedom to feel confidant to work and play outside without fear.

I know it's been a long while since I've posted in my blog. So much has happened over the last 6 months. I had an accident on October 29th which put me in a wheel chair for two months, and reconstructive surgery on December 14th. I finally feel like I'm on the road to recovery, thank you Jesus for being by my side through this whole ordeal.
During this time I spent a lot of time thinking. Unable to get to my desk to craft most days has forced me to reconsider all of my life goals and decisions. During this time a lot of information has come to light about Young Living. I dove deep into prayer, and researched more than I ever have. During this time I discovered within myself that I was not being who I truly am.
I've struggled so much with my decision to stop promoting YL, mostly because I felt foolish to admit that I had followed this fear mongering company. I've searched for a better term, and just haven't found it. Yes, YL has good products, but they're so expensive it's ridiculous. In attempt to sell their products they have instilled fear into so many that anything other than what they promote is bad and harmful to our bodies.
I know, I fell into this belief. I trusted that all talc, petroleum and propylene glycol was horrible. And if any product had it on their ingredient list I should NEVER use it. That's just not true.
Do you know that European products have much higher restrictions and standards than products made here in the USA? Safecosmetics.org states that the EU law bans 1,328 chemicals from cosmetics that are known or suspected to cause cancer, genetic mutation, reproductive harm or birth defects. In comparison, the US FDA has only banned or restricted 11 chemicals from cosmetics. You might want to reread that again.
Talc can be easily contaminated with asbestos, (a banned substance in Europe but not USA) when mined. This has led to concern over many contaminated products linked to causing mesothelioma and other cancers. Petroleum is another concern. When properly refined petroleum is said to have no known health concerns; however, it is often not fully refined here in the US which means it can be contaminated with toxic chemicals. I encourage everyone to do their research and find products that they love and help them live a healthier lifestyle.
